When growing, you are subject to a license fee depending on the size of your plot. The price for less than 5 acres is $250, between 5 and 20 acres is $300, and more than 20 acres is $350. This fee is waived for universities growing hemp for research purposes.
As of October 2019, there were 3,730 licensed hemp growers in Tennessee. Hemp cultivation appears to be a profitable market for Tennessee, so it’s nice to see the state embracing this market. It’s also good news for CBD, especially now that licenses are not required to process hemp.
